The information provided is not available from any other public search resource. How it all startedIn 2012 Court Data Australia commenced collecting (mostly PDF based) data from the daily court lists published by the Australian courts. At the time we had been operating as an investigation agency for well over 20 years and believed this data was potentially of significant value. We also knew that unless it was collected daily it would disappear with each days court list replacing the previous days data.
So, for the next several years, several hours of each day were spent downloading and collating all the available daily court lists. As courts updated to proper online databases, things improved. As additional courts also started publishing daily court lists online, they too were also collected. In 2014 we had set up a very rudimentary online database. Constant improvements and updates were made and in 2020 the current Court Data Australia database went live with almost 20 million criminal and civil records. Currently there are well over 30 million records in the CDA database. In 2022 Court Data New Zealand also went online covering court list records for the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and the High Court of New Zealand. |
The Papua New Guinea connectionIn 2021 we commenced converting Papua New Guinea court list records going back to 2012 into a database friendly format so that individual names and that of companies and other entities could be readily searched. A name search option is not available from the PNG court sites.
Whilst the available PNG court data often has poor spelling (the name of a well known government official can be spelt three or four different ways) and poor formatting (often multiple names are not differentiated), we have done our best to identify and fix those errors. This has meant a considerable amount of time had to be devoted to getting the data as correct as possible and this continues to be the case with each new upload of information. On 23 January 2023 the Court Data PNG Database became available and new records are now updated weekly. We hope you find the database useful.
